Joseph B. Boren

Boren-Obit-Photo-229x300Joseph B. Boren, 85, of Amarillo, passed from this life into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on April 27, 2013.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church with Bobby File, pastor of Evangelical Fellowship Church officiating. Private burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Joe was born July 5, 1927 to Joe and Mable Boren in Portales, NM. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked for Phillips Petroleum Company in Borger from 1945-1985. He married Alfreda Harbert in 1955 and was the father of two sons, Bruce and Dennis Boren.

He was a member of Evangelical Fellowship Church; participated in Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study.

In recent years, he was a volunteer at the VA hospital. He was an accomplished artist and a life-long student of history. He had a lightning quick wit and loved a good joke.

He loved his family and the Lord and dedicated his life to both.

Joe was recently preceded in death by his son Dr. Bruce Boren. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Freda; son, Dennis and his wife, Kathleen; daughter-in-law, Vickie; grandchildren: Alyssa, Hannah, Haley, Andrew, Bryan, Tracey, and Cole; great-grandson, Zane; and niece, Glennetta Golightly.
