Bob was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Sherman to Fay and Frances Hacker and grew up in Canyon, Tx before his family moved to Amarillo. He attended Amarillo High School and was a member of the first graduating class of Tascosa High School. After high school he served in the National Guard.
Bob was a self- taught drummer who toured the country playing with different bands in the 1960’s. After a hand injury prevented him from pursuing his musical career Bob worked at Levi Strauss and eventually retired from Tyson as a security guard. Bob had a passion for family, music, friends of Bill W. and his faith in the Lord. He touched many lives during his life.
Bob married Mamye Edwards on Aug. 16, 1974, in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mamye Hacker, of the home; a son, John Robert Hacker and wife Rebecca, of Irving; a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Hand and husband Rodney, of Atlantic Beach, FL; a sister, Florence Martin and husband Gerald, of Amarillo; and four grandchildren, Dillon, Rebekah, Sadie and Lucy.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Ross Clopton and Anthony Inman officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
