Bill was born March 19, 1926, in Wellington to Roy and Beulah Cunningham. He graduated from Wellington H.S. in 1943, and went on to earn a business degree from Texas Tech in 1951. In between, he served his country in the Air Force and was part of the occupation force in Japan immediately after the fighting ended in WWII.
He married Rosemary Strong on July 8, 1950, in Wellington.
Bill had a long prosperous career with the NCR Corp. retiring after 36 years, the last many years as the branch manager in Amarillo. He would also go on to spend 14 years as a sales associate at McCoy Myers, until 2004 at the age of 78 he knew that his work was complete.
His knack for telling stories and jokes and his mastery of selling skills made him a successful salesman and a trusted friend. He always professed his belief and trust in Jesus Christ. He was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church since its formation in 1980.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, R.W., Keith and Lindy.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Rosemary Cunningham, of the home; a son, Glenn Cunningham and wife Sheila, of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Rachel of Amarillo, Jason and wife Mariana of Houston and Darbi of London, England.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the funeral home.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at Coulter Road Baptist Church with Jim Benton and Glenn McCathern officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
